Camas, Wa, July 28, 2020 - Boaters using the NavNet TZtouch2 series of MFDs will be thrilled to learn that Furuno has released a software update that improves the User Interface in ways that will make navigating simpler while adding even more functionality. Version 7.01 software for NavNet TZtouch2 delivers new features that users have been asking for, and more.

The first change you will see is on the Welcome screen. You will have the option to view the built-in tutorial, set the unit to Demo mode, or begin navigation directly. The new Welcome screen can be easily disabled so that the system will skip this step and go directly to the home screen on future startups.

NavNet TZtouch2 version 7.01 software provides more direct access to your data. A new Event Icon is available on every screen, allowing you to instantly create an event mark such as a waypoint, whether you are viewing your Chart Plotter, Fish Finder, or any other function of the system. An all-new Route Bar presents critical navigation data while allowing you to pause or restart navigation to your current waypoint with a single tap. Data boxes that appear on the screen can now be customized even more, allowing you to scale the data you want to see. Setting up smaller data boxes allows more data on screen, while larger data boxes provide easy-to-read, instant access. Data boxes are also stackable and scrollable, allowing access to even more information that can be edited with a simple long-press on the box.

With this software update, a new Edge Swipe Guide is displayed on every edge of the screen where the edge swipe function is available. This unobtrusive guide will notify you that the edge swipe menus are available from your current presentation. If you’d rather not see these guides, they can be easily deactivated without limiting edge swipe functionality

NavNet TZtouch2 users who’ve been envious of some of the new features in NavNet TZtouch3 will be delighted to learn that Furuno has applied many of those enhancements into the version 7.01 NavNet TZtouch2 software. A two-finger tap on any 2- or 3-way split-screen will instantly make that function full-screen. For example, if you see an interesting return on your split-screen Radar or Fish Finder display, a simple two-finger tap will make that full-screen so you can have a closer look, and a second two-finger tap will return you to your original split-screen display! The new software allows for network compatibility with NavNet TZtouch3 MFDs. Furuno has included TimeZero Cloud compatibility, so your points, routes, boundaries (new), photos, and catch data can be synchronized among TZtouch2 MFDs, TZtouch3 MFDs, TimeZero PC software, and the TZ iBoat app. Now you can create routes at home using TZ iBoat, then download them to onboard TZtouch2/3 MFDs.

One of the most exciting features for fishermen is new TZtouch2 compatibility with the TZ First Mate app, making it simple to log every catch. Created for use with TZtouch3, the free TZ First Mate app manages all of your catch details such as fish type, length, weight, catch location, and even a photo. All of this information can be accessed either from the app on your mobile device or directly from your MFD.

Note that this version 7.01 software update may not be right for every NavNet TZtouch2 installation. If you have a mixed system that includes any NavNet TZtouch2 and a first-generation TZtouch TZT9, TZT14, TZTBB, the Suzuki SMD12/16 MFD, or TimeZero v3 software and below, this software update will remove the ability of those products to communicate across the network. If you wish to retain TZtouch2’s limited Active Captain feature, you should know that this software upgrade will eliminate those capabilities.
