Pasha Hawaii's Jean Anne pure car/truck carrier has received an extraordinary electronics upgrade, including dual X-Band FAR2228 and a powerful S-Band FAR2238S Radar, two 23" FMD3300 ECDIS stations with FAP3000 Track Control Systems, and a 24" widescreen FMD3100 ECDIS, creating a modern and sophisticated integrated shipboard network.

Camas, WA - Pasha Hawaii's Jean Anne, a 579-foot, 37,548 gross ton modern PCTC (pure car/truck carrier), has received an extraordinary electronics upgrade, replacing her navigation systems with an entire suite of new Furuno electronics. The update was performed by Mackay Marine in Vancouver, BC, in just under three weeks, including time for sea trial and crew training. Project Manager Ben Staggs, and installers Hamid Nayebi and Don Kamachi, handled the entire retrofit without complications, removing the older electronics and replacing them with all-new Furuno equipment.

The new electronics package aboard the Jean Anne is substantial and impressive. Dual X-Band FAR2228 and a powerful S-Band FAR2238S Radar ensure that Jean Anne's crew will have flawless detection at every range and in all weather conditions. Two 23" FMD3300 ECDIS stations with FAP3000 Track Control Systems, along with a 24" widescreen FMD3100 ECDIS, provide cutting-edge chart handling and simplified route-planning and navigation. Their powerful chart engine allows Jean Anne's crew to enjoy seamless panning and zooming of the chart, making operations at the helm easy and stress-free. Multiple sensor adapters are interfaced via Ethernet connection, creating an integrated shipboard network that connects the Radar and ECDIS systems to redundant GP170 GPS receivers, a precision DS80 Doppler Speed Log, FE800 IMO Navigation Echo Sounder, and a complete VR7000 Voyage Data Recorder. The new electronics were installed and integrated with her existing Furuno GMDSS safety radio suite and other Furuno equipment, ranking her among the most modern Ro/Ro (Roll-on/roll-off) vessels on the sea.

The Jean Anne was launched in 2005 as the first fully enclosed Ro/Ro container vessel to serve Hawaii from the mainland. She is capable of transporting 2,500 automobiles on her ventilated decks, delivering cargo damage-free and protected from corrosive ocean salt spray. Decks 4, 6, and 8 are reinforced for oversize cargo, such as construction, agricultural, or military equipment, and can accommodate 125,000 square feet of such. Jean Anne's new helm suite will help to ensure her ability to safely and securely deliver vital cargo to the islands for many years to come.
