Can the NavNet 3D Hard drive be replaced with Solid State Drive?

Question

Can the standard hard drive be replaced with a Solid State Drive to increase reliability in rough service?

Solution

The hard drive could not be replaced with a SSD.  Even if it could there would be no real speed increase.  The NavNet system already operates from solid state memory.  The hard drive is only for storage of maps and user settings.  The hard drive in the system already provides the maps at a rate faster than the system can fully render the map.  The boot up time is the most lengthy process and it is entirely out of solid state memory already.
