Quick transducer connection info for FCV295 and FCV115
Question
I remove my unit from my boat often to keep it from being taken. Can I remove the FCV1150 or FCV295 easily from the boat?
Solution
Commercial transducers that are used for units like the FCV295/FCV1150 do not have connectors. The connectors are normally provided with the sounder unit for commercial sounders. In the case of the FCV295, it uses WAGO style connectors which are included with the unit at the back of the display. They can removed, but they are not designed for constant install and removal. If you plan on connecting and disconnecting the transducer a lot, you might want to wire a short pigtail cable and use a heavy backshell type connector designed for constant removal and install. From Furuno, you could wire your transducer (removing your two previous connectors that belong with the FCV1100) to backshell connector part# 000-506-507. At that point you then place a Y cable connector assmy (part# 000-142-518) to the back of the sounder to match up with your newly made transducer connection. This would provide you a single connection/disconnection for the transducer. The speed and temp cable connection on the FCV295/FCV1150 is an easy disconnect but the power is wired direct with terminal lugs, so you might want to setup a quick disconnect for the power also. This could be done with a large NavNet power cable (part# 000-154-025) and a matching chassis Jack power connector. (part# 000-138-932) or another good quality marine connector set you find at most marine stores. You should leave yourself some power wire to go from the back of the display to the quick disconnect power connector as you build the disconnection point.
