Solution
Yes, but it is not recommended. The Furuno Weatherfax machines are designed to use an 8 foot whip antenna with the FAX5 pre-amp/coupler.
Due to the wavelength of the receiving signal, any decrease in antenna length will decrease received signal level. This will cause a decrease of overall range and system performance.
