Furuno is proud to report that Commercial Business Development Manager, Bart Disher, has been honored as one of Waterways Journal’s '40 Under 40' recipients. Each year, Waterways Journal recognizes select individuals for their outstanding contributions to the inland marine transportation industry in various fields. This well-earned recognition comes after 14 years of dedicated service to Furuno USA, Inc.

“I am honored and humbled to be one of the recipients of Waterways Journal’s '40 under 40' Award,” said Bart. “As Commercial Business Development Manager at Furuno USA, I believe in building long-term relationships with our network of loyal dealers and customers. I am supported each day by my colleagues at Furuno USA, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.”

After training in sales on the West Coast, Bart accepted the position of commercial BD manager for the gulf and western states in 2015. In just a few short years, he has dramatically expanded both the responsibility and authority of the position. Bart’s responsibilities have included business development and sales and marketing for the entire Gulf Coast from Brownsville, Texas, to Panama City, Florida, and up the rivers to St. Louis and Chicago.

“As Southwest Regional Sales Associate, I learned from the ground up about the marine electronics industry. In my nine years in the Southwest Territory, I learned all about recreational sport fishing, long-range cruising, military and government contracting, tugboats, towboats, and commercial deep-draft ships. My passion for commercial products and customers only grew. In 2015, I took over the Commercial Business Development Manager position for the Gulf, Rivers, and West Coast, following the retirement of our beloved colleague, Butch Weghorst. In this role, I have had the pleasure of supporting our key commercial accounts and customers while building long-term relationships and trusted partnerships. I look forward to many more years of building, learning, and supporting Furuno USA’s network of dealers and end-users.”

On a day-to-day basis, Bart is responsible for sales coordination for over 50 primary dealer and commercial accounts, ranging from conventional to technical, installing dealers of marine electronics, military, and other government boat builders. His duties also include international service coordination with companies responsible for the service and maintenance of Furuno equipment on vessels worldwide. Bart sets an aggressive visitation schedule and follows that up with tireless energy in emails, calls, and project documents. Bart bears responsibility for BD outreach to many customers as well, regularly visiting with dozens of clients ranging from fleets to large yards. He has also been a trainer for the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard through Furuno IDIQ programs.

Please join us in celebrating this remarkable achievement with Bart!
